Discovery through Art, Movement & Song

Art, Music, and Song are good for the body, mind, and soul. When we use art, in any of its forms, to get past the logical brain and unlock the intuitive mind we are able to access emotions, internal wisdom, and spiritual connection that we often deny ourselves in the course of our daily lives.

During these sessions you can choose to explore your inner self through Visual Arts, Movement & Dance and/or Music & Vocal Expression.

In a session focusing on the Visual Arts, we begin with an interview portion that will provide me with some areas to focus and guide you through during the hands-on section. We will then move to creating art that helps you tap into the healing work you need to do. Don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself an artist, the way the final piece looks is not the point, the point is that you are able to connect with your subconscious in such a way that it brings wounds to the surface to be healed. Sometimes we will also use art others have created to guide and inspire us.

Here is an example of what I did during a self-guided session.

A Movement & Dance Session is your opportunity to really get into your body and let it show you what you are really feeling. We tend to stuff our emotions down to the point that we don’t even know that they’re there. Our bodies know, and by giving them free reign to move and express. We begin with an interview section that will guide the rest of the session. Then we will do some stretches to get the body warmed up. From there we may or may not use music to help you find the expression of the energy that is ready to surface. Again, don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself a dancer. I am here to guide you into the movement that will serve you and help you heal.

During a Music & Vocal Expression Session, we will use both the music of others and music you create to help you experience and express what is in your heart. Again, we will start with an interview that will guide the rest of the work that day. We may use pop songs, create songs, or just use vocal sounds without word or tune. Don’t worry about what you sound like, the point is what you feel like afterwards.

Again these sessions can stand on their own, be combined with each other, or combined with other forms of healing. Everything is customized to your particular needs and comfort level.
